What will I learn?
Following the course, you will be able to:
- Gain and contribute to quality situational awareness from a safety perspective.
- Contribute a safety perspective to plans and briefings.
- Manage and monitor the adequacy of safety procedures.
- Investigate and manage any safety incidents.
- Advise the IMT on compliance with legislation and codes of practice.
- Maintain effective documentation.

Are there any prerequisites?
- An understanding of CIMS. This can be either CIMS unit standards (or equivalent) or sufficient work experience to demonstrate this understanding.
- Completion of Level 4 Knowledge of Safety. This course is accessible free of charge on Takatu (the learning management system for the emergency management sector accessible via a REALMe login). A link to a short assessment will be sent when all modules are complete.
