What will I learn?

Following this training, you will be able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of:

  • Situational awareness for the planning process for a CIMS response.
  • Steps 2-5 of the planning process for a CIMS response.
  • Demobilisation and/or transition to recovery in relation to the planning process for a CIMS response.

Assessment

Optional but highly recommended to achieve Unit Standard 32160 Apply knowledge of the Planning process to a Coordinated Incident Management System response.

Are there any prerequisites?

  • An understanding of CIMS. This can be either CIMS unit standards (or equivalent) or sufficient work experience to demonstrate this understanding.
  • Completion of Level 4 Knowledge of Planning. This course is accessible free of charge on Takatu (the learning management system for the emergency management sector accessible via a REALMe login). A link to a short assessment will be sent when all modules are complete.

Who is this course for?

Anyone who will operate as part of the Planning function within New Zealand’s Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS).
