What will I learn?
Following this training, you will be able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of:
- Situational awareness for the planning process for a CIMS response.
- Steps 2-5 of the planning process for a CIMS response.
- Demobilisation and/or transition to recovery in relation to the planning process for a CIMS response.
Assessment
Optional but highly recommended to achieve Unit Standard 32160 Apply knowledge of the Planning process to a Coordinated Incident Management System response.
Are there any prerequisites?
- An understanding of CIMS. This can be either CIMS unit standards (or equivalent) or sufficient work experience to demonstrate this understanding.
- Completion of Level 4 Knowledge of Planning. This course is accessible free of charge on Takatu (the learning management system for the emergency management sector accessible via a REALMe login). A link to a short assessment will be sent when all modules are complete.

Anyone who will operate as part of the Planning function within New Zealand’s Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS).
