RRANZ Updates

Managing a Coordination Centre - 2025 Courses

We were thrilled with the feedback from our pilot participants on the new Managing a Coordination Centre course.

The tweaks and modifications are almost complete, and registrations are now open for either an online course or face to face offering.

This course provides a range of tools and techniques for effectively managing a coordination centre. It is intended for anyone who manages in an Incident Coordination Centre. Many pilot participants suggested this course is also useful for any function manager in a CIMS co-ordination centre.

2025 course dates:
* Online – 16 April, $1250 + GST
* *NEW* Face to Face – 25 & 26 August in Christchurch, $1,500 + GST (incl. catering and printed materials)

RRANZ alumni - staying connected

Emergency Service State HQ for Diana Murfit from Ministry of Health New Zealand. Diana and Joanna met when attending the Response and Recovery Aotearoa New Zealand Response and Recovery Leadership Development Program in Wellington.

The tour involved visiting the State Operations Centre (SOC) where Stacy, the Coordinator Duty Operations was on shift. Stacy talked through the role of the SOC and how varied it is. The team were managing a rescue at the time, the extrication of a person who had passed away in the night but whom had been house bound for a long time due to being a large-bodied person. The rescue required part of the house to be cut away in order for the person to be removed from the home.

The pair also visited the State Control Centre which was closed but gave Diana a great insight as to how teams are set up in a level 3 event.
