The first cohort of the Tier 1 Intermediate RRLP course was successfully completed on June 14. Thanks to WREMO for the use of their centre for most of the training, and MCDEM for access to the NCMC and ongoing support to the programme.
A highlight of the contact week was the scene-setting provided by the mihi whakatau by Joe McLeod, and the iwi response and recovery experiences recounted by Robyn Wallace and Shane Graham.
Assessments have gone to all participants who completed the course, with very satisfying results being achieved across the board. The evaluation process for the programme has provided very useful insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the programme from a learner perspective.
Tier 1 Cohort 19-2 went live online on 19 August, with its contact phase happening in Christchurch from 30 September to 4 October. Nominations are open for Cohort 19-3, commencing online on 7 October, with the contact phase in Hamilton 18 to 22 November.
In response to feedback from the first cohort an abbreviated Tier 1 course will be developed to be delivered concurrently with some full Tier 1 courses, to better meet the needs of individuals who have completed the earlier CDEM Controller Development Programme provided by Massey and AUT. The first of these is planned to be delivered with the Hamilton Tier 1 course.
DPMC has added specialist support to the project, particularly the Recognition of Current Competency Process and further development of the Leadership Capability Framework.
